We’ve been in the sun for the vast majority of our evolution, so it’s not surprising that sun light is good for you. Infra red is part of the electromagnetic spectrum in which visible light is a part. In the visible light spectrum, the longest wavelength is red and the shortest is blue. Blue gives way to violet and ultra violet. As you know, ultra violet produces vitamin D3 in the skin, which is essential for health!
Infra Red is at the other end of the spectrum and has been found to help your biochemistry by causing some vital enzymes function better. Certain wave lengths help certain enzymes. One very notable enzyme is in the production of ATP within the mitochondria. ATP is the energy currency of the cell and drives all the chemistry within the cell. Therefore, infra red light therapy increases the amount of ATP within each cell which in turn makes that cell work much better.
Benefits have been demonstrated in a widening array of diseases and medical conditions which is growing fast as research continues.
From skin conditions to Dementia and brain damage to increased cognition, tissue repair to hair regrowth
In a nut shell it makes most cells do their jobs better by increasing each cells production of ATP which is the energy currency of the cell. So, what ever the cells job was it can do it better.
Interesting example. Parkinson’s disease. This disease is caused by the lack of dopamine in a deep structure on the brain stem. The Infrared causes these cells to produce more ATP which inturn allows the cells to produce more dopamine. More dopamine in this structures reverses the symptoms of Parkinson’s
